The "CASA DO SOUTO" comprises a house and a large piece of agricultural land, which is considered to be an important unit in terms of the land structure of the region and the locality. The quality and productivity of the soil are also well known among the local people, especially the older ones, as a result of their knowledge of the agricultural activities that once took place there.
The house's distinctive feature is the apparent architectural configuration of a traditional style, where stone, wood, Moorish tiles and white painted plaster are the dominant elements.
Internally, the aim was to reconcile the functionality and intrinsic quality of the building with its traditional, classic appearance, by carefully introducing and combining new construction materials that are more suitable for meeting current needs and demands, creating a final product with the highest quality standards.
All the carpentry work, which plays a very important role in the building complex, was carried out in accordance with the typical form and construction characteristics of the region, using only solid wood, resulting from the reuse of hardwoods from old buildings. All the glazed openings were fitted with double glazing, in order to provide the home with the best levels of comfort and thermal insulation.
The ceilings were finished in wood, creating the most characteristic and traditional structure in the region, finished in a "skirt-shirt" (according to the terminology of the trade). They were, however, treated and thermally insulated to ensure the highest quality living conditions.
The house was equipped with pre-installation of a heating system, which will be centred on a gas boiler that will power the entire central heating system of the building, as well as heating water for domestic use.
The water supply is provided by a spring located elsewhere in the village, which is brought to the property via PVC piping. This system has been in place on the property for a long time and has been equipped with a storage, elevation and adjustable pressurization system. However, the village has a public water supply system, which could be used as an alternative.
The garden, located in the immediate vicinity of the house, has been landscaped to ensure minimal maintenance.
The rest of the property's land has been planted, creating a nut orchard, with chestnut, walnut and hazel trees as the dominant species, constituting a recreational woodland with high environmental and landscape value.
