Public transport: Montemor-o-Novo has direct bus communication from Lisbon and other major towns. Good train communications leave from nearby Casa Branca or Evora.
Montemor has it's ancient castle atop the hill, the old town with its cobbled streets, an indoor market on Saturdays and beautiful churches and squares.
